The error is due to the fact that their daughter-in-law Helen Hanson was the person who arranged for the placement of the stone and since her husband, Carrie and Peter's son, Leo, had during his teenage years arbitrarily changed the spelling of his name to Hanson, she used the spelling she was familiar with.
