MRS. EDWARD OFFERMANN --
MONTICELLO - Funeral services
for Mrs. Edward (Matildal)
Offermann, 68, will be held today
(Thursday) at 10:30 o'clock at
Sacred Heart Catholic church. The
Rev. Joseph Kirk will officiate.
Interment will be in Sacred Heart
cemetery.
A Rosary was recited Wednesday
evening at Devaney funeral
home.
Mrs. Offermann died Oct. 20 at
John McDonald hospital following
a brief illness. She was born April
5, 1901, in Monticello the daughter
of Arthur and Fannie Oeschger
Grim. She attended Monticello high
school and taught in rural schools.
She married Edward Offermann
Jan. 19, 1922, in Monticello. The
couple farmed in the Delhi,
Earlville and Buck Creek areas
before retiring.
She was preceded in death by her
husband, Sept. 23, 1962, and two
brothers.
Survivors include seven
children: Orville of Coggon,
Robert of Monticello, Virgil of
Marion, Andrew and Lyle of Cedar
Rapids, Mrs. Victor (Helen)
Wilson of Delhi and Mr Joe
(Vornamae) Thole of Arlington.

This obituary mentions that she was predeceased by "two" brothers - however, she was acutally predeceased by three brothers: Silas (1969), Leland (1968), and Ralph (1965).
Since Ralph was not mentioned in either Silas's or Leland's obituary perhaps Ralph is being omitted in Matilda's obituary as well. Whether this is by omission or design is left to question. Ralph however, was no longer a member of the Catholic Church and was buried in the Oakwood cemetery with services conducted from the Peace United Church of Christ. He was the first of Fannie and Arthur's children to die.
