MILLY WELTER, MONTICELLO - The funer of Milly Welter, 72, was held at Sacred Heart Church Saturday October 11, with a concelebrated mass. Rev. Neil Tobin was principle celbrant and Msgr. Edmund J. Becker and Rev. F.C. Bahning were concelebrants. Burial was in the Sacred Heart cemetery. Mrs. Welter died Thrusday morning, Oct. 9, at Senior Home. She was born Dec. 27, 1902 in Monticeloo, daughter of Arthur J. and Fannie Oeschger Crim. She graduated from Monticello High school, attended Iowa State Teachers college, Cedar Falls, and graduated from Lenox College, Hopkinton, in 1931.
Mrs. Welter taught in rural Jones and Delaware county schools for many years. On June 24, 1933, she married Herman J. Welter in Monticello. The couple lived on a farm near Sand Springs before retiring to Monticello in March 1960.
She was a member of Hopkinton Legion Auxiliary and Delaware county Farm Bureau Women.
Mrs. Welter is survived by her husband; one daughter, Mrs. John (Bonnie) Sonksen, San Carlos, Cal.; one step-daughter, Mrs. Gene (Margaret) Artz, Loyal, Wis.; three step-sons, herman N. Jr., Onslow; William H. and Roman L., both of Hopkinton
Also surviving her are 38 step-grandchildren and one step-great-grandchild. Casket bearers were Melvin, Dave, Paul, Marty, Danny and Marc Welter and James Green.
