SILAS CRIM --
MONTICELLO---Funeral services
for Silas B. Grim, 69, were
held Friday morning at Sacred
Heart Catholic church. The Rev.
Joseph Kirk officiated. Interment
and military services were at
Sacred Heart cemetery.
Mr. Crim died April 9 at John
McDonald hospital. He was born
Oct. 1, 1899, at Monticello, the son
of Arthur and Fannie Oeschger
Crim.
He was a Navy veteran of WWI
He farmed for many years in the
Monticello area.
He was preceded in death by his
parents and a brother, Leland.
Survivors include two brothers,
Fillmore of Dubuque and Lester of
Luzerne; three sisters, Mrs.
Herman (Milly) Welter, Sr., Mrs.
Mathilda Offerman, both of
Monticello, and Mrs. Charles
Reggentine of Hopkinton.
Casketbearers were John
Behrends, Carl Bohlken, Ray Gehret, vernon Doden, Lewis Burrichter and Wallace Nehl.

As noted in this obituary Silas died in 1969; however, no reference is made to his brother Ralph who predeceased him in 1965. Ralph was also not mentioned in Leland Crim's obituary as having predeceased him. Whether this is by omission or design is left to question. Ralph however, was no longer a member of the Catholic Church and was buried in the Oakwood cemetery with services conducted from the Peace
United Church of Christ. He was the first of Fannie and Arthur's children to die.
